A sustainable and low-carbon refurbishment and extension of a 19th century house.

The proposals replace an existing extension and outbuildings, and result in a reduced building footprint, and increased private outside space, with a modest increase in internal area and a much improved internal and external layout.

The scale, massing and form of the proposals have been carefully designed to complement the surrounding context and protect the established pattern of development, maintaining the rhythm of solid and void in the streetscape, and ensuring the proposed extension is subservient to the existing house.
